Sukaina Al-Hamedi
I am a PhD Candidate from the School of Molecular Sciences in the Microbial Ecosystems Laboratory investigating the role of phages in marine microbial communities via microfluidics and time-lapse microscopy. I completed my Bachelor of Science with High Distinction in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through my work in Nebraska’s Gnotobiotic Mouse Program, where we examined the role of the intestinal microbiome and the severity of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. As a grad student I enjoy mentoring/teaching earlier students and practicing efficient science communication. Aside from work I enjoy everything artsy- drawing, painting, sewing, ceramics, jewelry, etc. with the occasional exploring nature!
